Question 1

What is the Kent Test?

Accepted Answer

The Kent Test is the 11+ entrance exam used by grammar schools across Kent. Children usually take it in the September of Year 6. It covers English, maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal/spatial reasoning, and is set by GL Assessment.

Question 2

When is the Kent Test, and when do I register?

Accepted Answer

Registration opens 1 June and closes 1 July in Year 5 - a hard deadline. The test is sat in early September of Year 6, results arrive mid-October, and school places are allocated on 1 March. See the full timeline at https://www.kenttestprep.co.uk/guides/kent-test-dates

Question 3

What is the Kent Test pass mark?

Accepted Answer

There is no percentage pass mark. In the 2026 cycle children needed an aggregate standardised score of 345+ with no single subject below 111, and super-selective schools have needed 380+. Full explanation at https://www.kenttestprep.co.uk/guides/kent-test-pass-mark

Question 4

How many grammar schools are there in Kent?

Accepted Answer

There are 32 grammar schools in the Kent County Council area - the largest grammar system in England - and they all use the same Kent Test, so one result covers every school on the list. See the complete list grouped by area at https://www.kenttestprep.co.uk/guides/kent-grammar-schools

Question 5

When should my child start preparing for the Kent Test?

Accepted Answer

For most children, steady preparation starting in Year 4 or the first term of Year 5 is the sweet spot - roughly a year of little-and-often practice before the September test in Year 6. Full timeline by year group at https://www.kenttestprep.co.uk/guides/when-to-start-preparing

Question 6

How much does Kent Test Prep cost?

Accepted Answer

£50 per child per month, billed monthly and cancellable at any time. Your first payment is pro-rated to the end of the current month. Every child can complete one full trial assessment free before you subscribe.

Question 7

Which parts of the Kent Test does it cover?

Accepted Answer

All four papers: English (including reading comprehension, spelling, punctuation and grammar), mathematics, verbal reasoning, and non-verbal and spatial reasoning - across 32+ question types in the Kent Test style.

Question 8

What age or year group is it for?

Accepted Answer

Children in Year 3, Year 4 or Year 5. The plan adapts to whenever you start and runs right up to your child's real Kent Test date in September of Year 6.

Question 9

How is this different from a human tutor?

Accepted Answer

Kent Test Prep assesses your child every week, pinpoints exactly where they are strong or wobbling, and automatically builds the next practice set - so every minute is spent on what will move their score most. It costs a fraction of one-to-one tutoring and is available whenever your child is.
